Mozzarella stuffed burgers

  • 500gr. minced beef 
  • 1 onion (medium size), chopped
  • 1 onion cut into rings
  • 4tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 120ml. milk
  • 1tbsp olive oil
  • 1 egg
  • 6 burger buns
  • 6 mozzarella slices
  • 6 gouda slices
  • 6 lettuce leaves
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • ketchup, mustard
  • salt, pepper to taste


  1. Preheat oven, air 180°C.
  2. Mix the meat, onion, breadcrumbs, milk, olive oil and egg together in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Divide the batter into 6 pieces.
  4. Take one piece, divide it into two and form the burgers round and rather flat. Place the mozzarella slice on top of one of the burgers and cover with the other one. Press the two burgers together, mold them carefully and press down around the edges. Repeat with the rest.
  5. Place your burgers on a baking paper covered tray and cook for about 30 minutes.
  6. Turn off the oven, place one slice of gouda cheese on each burger and let it melt.  Once you take them out, place the buns in the oven for 2-3 minutes to heat up.
  7. Assemble the burgers!
